I joined Nexus to expand my capabilities as a leader by gaining access to expert speakers and to be part of a group of like minded MD’s/CEO’s who support each other through business critical issues. Never has this been more valuable than during BREXIT and the Covid pandemic. On a personal note my 1:1’s with Tim provide me with a more in depth assessment of how I and the business are performing. I continue to learn how to be a better version of me and the benefits to the business are invaluable.

Experience we gain over the years can easily resolve what would have been earlier adjudged as very serious. Reflecting back, there are many opportunities to learn over a working life. The more we make of them the better.

As my coach for almost 2 years now, I have always taken a fresh perspective away from our 121 sessions. Whether the issues we discuss are personal or business related, Tim’s questioning style always hits the spot and helps me to find my own solutions. I also value Tim’s directness and honesty when needed and he helps me to stay focussed on my goals.

For me, Nexus is all about learning whether from expert speakers or other group members. Being part of Nexus makes me much more prepared to tackle challenges we inevitably face and Covid is a great example of how we have supported each other as a group punching well above our weight.

I enjoy 1-1’s, they offer a chance to break out of the office environment, take a walk for a couple of hours and stop the fly wheel. This 2 hour session offers me a chance to reflect and discuss where I am, what’s going on, highlight any challenges and opportunities, both at home and within the business. Tim listens as I navigate through my download, asking questions and stimulating further discussions along the way. Often it’s simply a chance for me to defrag and re-align my thoughts and energies. But on occasions I have a roadblock or problem that I need more support to overcome, and Tim steps in to offer some thoughts and options for consideration. I always leave the 1-1’s with solid focus and I feel energised, allowing me to tackle and achieve my personal and business goals.

Joining the Aspire Group has been the best business decision I have made. The 1:2:1 coaching has re-energised my business drive and enabled me to focus on how to achieve my goals. The regular talks provided have been useful and inspirational and the advice and issue processing shared amongst the group members is invaluable. I would recommend Aspire to anyone with their own business or in a senior management function who wants to grow or improve their business.

Nexus has had a hugely positive impact on my business over the years, with expert coaching, world-class speakers, and a team of like-minded individuals all working towards getting the best out of me and my business.

As owner MD of a relatively small but fast-growing business, I particularly value the skills and experience of the other Nexus members plus they hold me accountable for goals and decisions. From a standing start, after three years I am already at £3m turnover with five profitable nurseries. Some members were even there recently at short notice as part of a Tiger Team to help me through an urgent situation.

I joined Nexus at a critical time in the history of the business. We had launched an ambitious digital transformation strategy underpinned by significant cultural and operational change. That included moving to a fully remote working business model where all employees would work permanently at home.

Challenges ranged from exiting properties in London and Oxford to raising funds for technology investment, and completing a critical restructure. At times the pressure was intense – but the support and expertise of the group kept me going. Not just the monthly meetings and coaching sessions but the calls and emails simply asking, “are you OK?”. And guest speakers like Mark Fritz inspired the way we led the team through change.

The group supported me through an MBO in 2019 – including introducing me to the bank and lawyers who supported the deal. Leveraging the combined personal networks of 11 CEOs is a massive benefit of membership.

Ultimately the value of Nexus is measured in results. Our remote working business model gave us a competitive advantage during the Covid-19 pandemic. We’ve been working through platforms like Zoom and Teams since 2017 so it was business as usual for us while others were struggling to get to grips with lockdown. And our year has culminated with us winning the Employer of the Year Award at the Investors in People Awards 2020. The part Nexus has played in our journey cannot be underestimated.

After 11 years in Oman, I am now back in the UK and immediately decided to rejoin the same group to give me a safe haven to discuss anything on my mind.

Not only have I got great value from 10 years of Nexus membership, my daughter has also joined the a Nexus Group to help our succession planning.

I credit and thank my Nexus group for optimising Romax growth, and resolving family working relationships, a major factor in Romax in being able to sell at a premium.

It is great to have someone external to my organisation to coach me, being truly independent and not involved in day-to-day distractions ensures that I remain focused on delivering the outcomes that are important both to me and the business. Tim creates a safe, yet challenging coaching environment He helps me to analyse the key issues by listening to what is being said, as well as unsaid, and asking insightful questions. This enables me to really pinpoint areas for change and think through different approaches. Tim will also offer practical tools, techniques, and suggestions where appropriate to help me identify a clear path forward. Whilst Tim will sometimes allow me to park an issue, he would never allow me to avoid one, ensuring that over time, I face up to and deal with the real issues in the business.
